Webkinz has a new membership. The key is that it costs more money. It reminds me of Club Penguin and I am a little annoyed about it. Isn’t it bad enough that I spend a ton of money on mini stuffed toys to get new codes? Now Webkinz wants me to pay a fee each month for added features? Don’t the know that we are in a recession and that many parents are hurting enough already? Do they really think that we need to be begged for more? It is one thing to reward your child with a Webkinz pet when they have gone above and beyond but now Webkinz wants me to pay each month for these special privileges but what if the kids are not good that month? I am still rewarding them! Some of the features that are featured are:
- A gift box including an amazing exclusive piece of clothing, available ONLY to Deluxe members
- Special access to a Deluxe activity page in the Today’s Activities section of Webkinz World
- Access to the Deluxe members-only GOLD channel on the Webkinz phone
- 3000 eStore Points to spend at the Webkinz eStore (awarded to the purchasing eStore account)
Oh and lets not forget that they will give you a hat as well. This hat is to provide free marketing for Webkinz when your child wears it all around town. Did I say free? What I mean is that when you pay for the membership you get a hat.
Now the annual membership is a bargain at $45. I do not think that you are getting all that much for your $45. Do not forget that it is $45 plus any pets your child wants in the real live store. What a completely huge scam! For those of you who have read my blog for a while you know that I love Webkinz. I enjoy playing it myself, the kids love it all and it is good clean fun. the thing is that for the performance of their site I do not feel like I should pay $45 a year! I just feel that they are getting a little too big for their britches.

I wholeheartedly agree. I was on the other day and looked into that and couldn’t believe it! They are getting a bit too crazy…I liked it when it was just Webkinz…b4 the clothes, the lip gloss, etc. I am not going to tell my kids about it…and hope that the one that can read doesn’t pick up on it!
I am hoping that my 1 reader doesn’t pick up on it! I think that if she asks me to pay for club penguin one more time I will loose it! Now Webkinz too?

I just can’t believe this, I don’t go on the webkinz, both my girls do though. I hope they don’t pick up on this, I spend enough money on the toys I definately don’t want to spend anymore money on the website.
My daughter has been asking about this and so has my son and when I saw the price of it, I dang near died. There is no way on earth that webkinz is worth that kind of money. My kids can deal with what they have instead, it’s not like they’re going to die if they don’t have webkinz after all!

Christie I think that it is crazy. My kids have yet to figure it all out. I know that it is only a matter of time now. I just think that there are so many other things that I want to spend my money on right now. I am not sure why the marketing department would have chosen an economic slump to release this idea!

webkinz is very cool and entureing to me I LOVE WEBKINZ WORLD!!!!!
My son cannot read as of yet so he is not really a target to their excessive advertising.
Most of his pets are all starving to death in the Webkinz world because he doesn’t know how to keep track of them all – gotta love Grandparents for the more than you can handle Webkinz pets.
I wonder if there’s a Webkinz Camel that can go a long time without food?
All in all it’s a pretty good thing for kids – props to Webkinz for targeting the preschool to grade school crowd – but I don’t think even Grandparents will fork over the cash for a useless yearly membership.

I think it’s totally worth it I mean iy’s only 3.75 a month and i’m having my daughter use her allowence
