While I sit with Analiese watching Disney‘s “Beauty and the Beast” for the 100th time this week I am pondering Disney.  In recent years Disney, along with many other companies, has been hit hard by trying economic times.  It would seem only natural that they do something to spark the Disney Magic we are looking for!

We have been discussing a trip to Disney World for next year but I have one major concern.  Analiese does not know all of the Disney Princesses!  I completely blame Disney for this terrible blunder!  I understand that by hiding movies in the “Disney Vault” they hope to spark a buying frenzy, but there is a big problem.  DVDs break much easier than a video tape ever did!  We no longer have Disney’s “Cinderella” and because I can not go out and buy it something terrible has happened!  Analiese Does not know who Cinderella is!

Now how are we supposed to go to Walt Disney World and see Cinderella’s Castle, have breakfast with Cinderella or buy a Cinderella dress is my daughter does not know who Cinderella is?  I personally think that it is too much to ask of me.  So I am sitting and waiting for the Blu Ray release of Disney’s “Cinderella” so that we can go on vacation educated!

Because all of this has been bothering me, I have of course done research.  Although I cannot find an exact release date it seems as if all of the rumors on the web say that Disney will be re-releasing Cinderella this year!  I sure do hope so for Disney’s sake.  Otherwise I will not be able to take my kids on vacation next year.  A family of 6 sure could spend a lot of money in Walt Disney World!

Christmas Countdown 2009: Holiday Checklist

75 Days of Christmas Countdown:

55  Days Until Christmas

It is so important as the holidays approach to have a game plan.  I think that there are some simple things that can be done early.  These are not things that will be rushing the holiday.  They are things that will help you to be more prepared when they get here.

  • Start Baking: There are many holiday treats that can be frozen and thaw well.  By starting holday baking a little at a time now you will have a chance to enjoy friends and family more at the holidays.
  • Get the calender out: It is never too early to start firming up plans for the holidays.  If you are planning a holiday party discuss them with friends and family now.  If there is a special trip you would like to pick the weekend now.  If there is a special day you would like to go shopping with a friend confirm the date and make the plans now.  If you would like to go see Disney‘s, “A Christmas Carol in 3-D” pick the date now.
  • Update Address Book: All through the year people move, pass away and change their phone numbers.  Go through your address book and make sure that you have all of the correct addresses for friends and family.  This will mean that when it comes time to send out Christmas cards you will be ready.
  • Make a Master Gift List: Write each person you need to shop for.  As you think of things that they will enjoy add it to your list.  Remember to leave room to check off when you buy it.  ALso remember to keep it away from the kids.  This also helps you hunt for the best price.
  • Develop a Budget: This is more important this year than it may have been in years past.  Many people have said that they will be spending less this year.  This means that we will all have to plan more and spend less.
